Church

Some people have asked us if we have found a church here.  The answer is yes and no.  The first 2 weeks we went to Hillsong Church.  For most American's we know it for their music.  They produce some great praise and worship CD's.  They have multiple campuses and we caught a bus to the City campus.  It was about a 20 min walk then a 5-10 minute ride straight to the front step of the church.  It is in an old warehouse, not your typical church building...but neither is Grace at home.  Anyways, as we expected, the worship was amazing.  It was very genuine feeling but at the same time, very professional and like a concert.  We have a few concerns about the church though.  Things are a little more focused on us, people, than on Christ.  Everything seems more about what God does for us than how we are here for God's glory and his glory only.  Due to these concerns, we wanted to look at another church.  We were going to visit a new church that is starting in September.  It is a Sovereign Grace church.  That is the type church The Blackers, our friends in DC go to.  We love their church.  We were disappointed to find out that it would take us and hour by trian and bus to get there.  So, the pastor of that church recommended another church to us called Church by the Bridge.  It is an easy train ride right to the other side of the Sydney Bridge.  It is a beautiful Church.  We enjoyed it, met a lot of very nice people.  One girl from Mocksville, NC (crazy).  We are going to go back Saturday night and hope to hear the senior pastor.  We met him and were very impressed.  He and Caleb hit it off well.  We will see.  Hopefully we will get settled at a church soon and can get to know some people more.

Related to church, today I went to Sisterhood at Hillsong Church.  It is a women's group that reminds me of MOMS at home.  There were a few hundred women and ran more like a worship service.  We had a great time of worship and then a guest speaker spoke on Wisdom in Marriage.  It was a good talk.  It reminded me of things Jane has taught at MOMS.  It was good to meet some women and have a few minutes away from the kids.  They seemed to enjoy the time playing away from me too.  I will plan to go back and hope to meet more moms.  It did really make me miss home.  I even got teary a few times thinking about home.

Talking about home. We do miss it.  We are adjusting.  Its just hard when we are use to seeing grandparents regularly, almost weekly, and able to do things with friends anytime we want.  Tomorrow it will be three weeks that we have been here.  Thats really not very long.  Things have gone well.  The kids were over jet lag right at a week and are use to living here.  I think once the weather gets better (its actually has rained a good bit, which means the kids and I stay in since we walk EVERYWHERE) and we find some friends, we will enjoy it even more.

That's all for now!
