Caleb and I

I am trying really hard to keep our blog a little more updated. I have done pretty good with pictures of Aaron recently, but realized, I haven't talked about Caleb and I at all. So, here is a little bit about what we are up to.

Caleb: BUSY SEASON. That tells it all. Busy season has started, it hasn't been fun, but not too bad. He has been doing a lot of traveling, but the end is in sight. He was in Pittsburgh for 4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas (coming home on weekends). Last week he was is Roxboro, NC (a small little town with nothing going on). He will be there for most of this week as well. We are hoping and praying that he will be back Wednesday, but I am not holding my breath. In a couple of weeks, he might be going down to Atlanta for a few days. If he does, Aaron and I are thinking about going with him and I will visit family and family friends and enjoy all the cool things to do down there. After that there are no trips planned, but he will still have long hours until mid March. We are looking forward to then.

Brooke: I am loving being at home with Aaron. I am so thankful for the opportunity. He is growing so fast, and keeping me on my toes. I will post more soon about all his abilities. Most of my day is full of activities in regards to being a mom. I am very thankful that the holiday season is over and things can get back to normal. As normal as they can with Caleb being gone and Aaron being sick. One thing that I have been working on is refinishing our master bedroom furniture and redecorating. For some reason, we have put off decorating our room to last. I will not do that again. Our bedroom suite was my grandmother's and we are very thankful for the free furniture. But it wasn't our style. We didn't like the color, it had a redish tent to it, and we especially did not like the old hardware and the pine cone decoration on it. So, a few weeks ago, I decided to redo it. I was hoping to knock it out in a few days. Well, weeks later, I am almost done. It was a little more of a project than I expected. I puttied (word??) in the pinecones, painted it dark brown, and put on new hardware. Here is some pictures of the work in progress. I will post pictures of our newly decorated room and new furniture as soon as it is completely finished. Hopefully by the end of the week.

The mirror before being painted. You can see the old color. I tore apart the mirror as it sat on the dresser and had ugly shelves.

Visit with Great-Grandmother

Rocking with Grandmother, getting ready for bed. I'm glad Grandmother enjoyed this, because it is rare for Aaron to let you rock him.

Working on pulling to stand. He can do it sometimes.

Christmas in GA

I realized that I forgot to post pictures of our trip to GA to visit my grandmother. So, here they are. We had a good time visiting and Aaron was spoiled rotten. He especially loved his Christmas present from Grandmother which was a LeapFrog Table that has all sorts of song on it and English and Spanish singing. It did not take him anytime at all to figure it all out. Still to date his favorite part is turning the page of the book.

My new wagon

I think I mentioned earlier that Aaron loves his new wagon he got for Christmas from Caleb's parents. We take him for a ride in it almost everyday, even inside when its too cold out. Here are some pictures of Uncle Brian and Aunt Jen giving Aaron a ride on a cold day. If it really snows today, I might have to bundle him up and take him out in his wagon. One might say it could be his first sled ride. Lets hope for snow.

Off Road

What could be more fun?

Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning (part 1)

We continued the tradition of spending Christmas Eve with Caleb's family at his Grandparent's house. We enjoyed a delicious dinner with his parents, brother, grandparents, aunt and uncle and cousins. Afterwards, Aaron continued to be the center of attention as he opened his first Christmas presents. To no surprise, he was more interested in the paper and the bows than most of the presents, even though he got some cool toys.

Christmas morning we went over to Caleb's parents house and had Christmas breakfast and exchanged gifts. Aaron especially enjoyed his new wagon from Caleb's parents. He loved wagon rides from the beginning and still enjoys them everyday. Even around the house on cold days.

Aaron's First Christmas

Now that Christmas is almost a month behind us, I guess it is time to update everyone with stories and pics from our first Christmas with Aaron. I have a lot to catch up on, so I guess I will start with coming back from Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh. As you know, we all came back from spending Thanksgiving with Caleb's family in Pittsburgh. A couple days later, Caleb flew back up to Pittsburgh for work for 4 weeks. It was suppose to be a 3 week project, but they asked him to come back for a fourth week. He was able to come home on weekends, thankfully. Surprisingly, the 4 weeks went better than either one of use expected. I spent most of the time going back and forth between High Point and mom and dad's in Charlotte. It was nice to have the company and help, but it was also exhausting. Aaron and I got off our schedule which was especially hard at night. Being out of his own bed, and with other's around at night, sleeping through the night was not happening. Thankfully, that has changed now and we are sleeping through the night again!!! After 3 weeks of going back and forth and missing Caleb we took a trip to my grandmothers in GA. Caleb flew into Greensboro Friday night and I drove up from Charlotte to pick him up. We then went to Dixon Hughes Christmas dinner and enjoyed a good meal as we waited for Caleb's luggage to catch up to him. After the dinner we drove back to Charlotte and left Saturday morning for my Grandmothers. We had a good time with my family and was so glad that my parents and Brian and Jen were able to go with us. First thing Tuesday morning, Caleb flew back to Pittsburgh and I hung out with my parents a few more days. Friday before Christmas Caleb was home and had two weeks off!!! Caleb and work negotiated his time off. He origianlly was suppose to have time off earlier, but we changed our trip to my grandmothers and he got 2 weeks off. It actully worked better for us changing his time off. We spend the 2 weeks with family around Christmas, but most of it relaxing at home as we all faught off different bugs. Thankfully we are healthy for now.
