It's finally fall

This weekend we acted like it is fall, even though it was still in the 80's. We went to the Farmer's market on Saturday and picked out a pumpkin.

Then Sunday went for a hike at Pilot Mountain then drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had a great weekend as a family and were glad Caleb got a break from work. Here are some pictures.

Aaron "eating" peas

Aaron has had peas many times before, but for some reason, he did not like them tonight. He has been a great eater and has eaten everything that I have given him. Below are some pictures of the faces he was making as I tried to give him some peas. He barely opened his mouth, then would take a small bit. He barely would swallow them. As he did, he straightened his legs and shook his whole body. As a result, we had some great faces with more peas coming out of his mouth than going in. By the way, Tyler you can't have him...but come visit anytime.

I guess his thumb taste a lot better than the peas.

100% boy

I had no idea how early kids fell into "gender roles". For a long time Aaron has liked being outside and it was an easy way to calm him down if he was upset. Now I would say he loves it. He especially loves it when the wind blows. We go outside a lot of afternoons and watch cars go by, and he has the biggest smile on his face. The other day the recycling truck was going down out road and we stayed outside and watched it for 10 minutes or so. Aaron was so excited to watch the truck. He was laughing and kicking so much. Who would have thought that a 6 month old would already love trucks.

Even though he is 100% boy, he is still a sweet baby. He cuddles up more now (when he is sleepy) and gives great slobbery kisses on your cheek.

Here are some recent pictures of Aaron.

6 months old

Well, Aaron is officially 6 months old...well he was a few days ago. On 10/3/07, Aaron turned 6 months. I cannot believe that he has been a part of our family for 1/2 a year. But it also seems like he has always been with us. Caleb and I were talking today about how much joy he has brought into our lives. Everyday he gets more and more interactive.

I thought I would take a few minutes to tell you guys all about what he is doing. At his 6 month check up he weighed 17 lbs and 14 oz. That puts him in the 50th %tile. He is really tall though...he is in the 90th %tile. Aaron is now sitting up all by himself. Everyday he sits up for longer and longer. He can roll around and loves to explore. He has been rolling for a few weeks and now you have to keep a close eye on him when he is playing on the floor, you never know where he will end up. I guess it is about time for me to baby proof our house. Aaron also loves to talk, its actually babble, vowel sounds only, and squealing. He mainly talks to himself when he is playing alone, or in his crib. Caleb is definitely one of Aaron's favorite people. Whenever Aaron hears his voice, or sees him, he gets very excited and smiles so big. Caleb can not resist picking him up when he looks at him with that big smile. No one can...we all melt at his smile. Aaron loves to eat all the new foods that he gets. He is eating a variety of veggies and I have just started to introduce him to fruit.

Pictures to come soon.

Consignment Sales

The past couple of months I have been going to a bunch of kids consignment sales at local churches. You can get some great items for dirt cheap. I have been looking for a few big items that I don't want to pay full price for. I got an exersaucer and a jumperoo which are great to keep Aaron entertained for a little while. He loves them both and is started to get the hang of jumping in the jumperoo. I also got him a bunch of winter clothes. Most peices I got for a dollar or two. You can't beat those prices. Mom has also taken part of these sales and is getting more things for Aaron. I highly suggest consignment sales for all those with babies on the way or kids.

Pictures to come.
