Long Time no post

It has been a while since I have posted. So, here is a little update of what has been going on at our house the past few weeks. We had a good Thanksgiving visiting Caleb's grandfather in Pittsburgh. Aaron did pretty good on the 8 hour ride up there, but great on the way back. He didn't whine until about 45 minutes from home. Our last night there, the fire alarm went off twice during the middle of the night. Everyone was evacuated from their room into the lobby. Yes, we thought the same thing, if there is a fire, why are we all in the lobby??? Since it was the middle of the night, and it was cold (and we left our coats in the car), we decided to sit in the car. Come to find out, the cold wind caused the exhaust from the boiler room to blow back into the hotel. It was no fun during the night, but in the long run, it was a good thing because Aaron slept a lot in the car on the way home. Also while we were there, Aaron got to experience his first snow. The first time we saw flurries, we got Aaron bundled up to get some pictures. By the time we got out there, it had turned into rain. But the next day is snowed a few times and we got some good pictures. Aaron like being out in the snow (probably because it was windy). I will post some pictures of our trip soon.

Pittsburgh...here we come

Tomorrow AM, around 6:30 we are headed out to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving to see Caleb's grandfather and his aunt and her family. We have not seen them since last Thanksgiving...so they have not met Aaron. We are looking forward to visiting, but not the drive. This afternoon Caleb was "asked" to work in Pittsburgh for 3 weeks. So, instead of packing for a long weekend, I packed us for a week and a 1/2. All three of us will stay up there for the first week. We will all come back the first weekend of December and Caleb will fly back up Monday morning. So, while I am exploring Pittsburgh during the day with Aaron, and sitting in a hotel room I will hopefully get some stuff added to the blog.

Aaron has teeth!!!

A couple weeks ago, on October 25 (my dad's birthday) Aaron's first tooth broke through. Then last Friday, the second one started to peek through. He has done well with teething so far. He doesn't seem to be in much pain. But he does want to chew on any and everything in sight. As soon as I am able to get a picture on his two teeth, I will post them for you guys.

I am amazing that Aaron is already 7 months old. This time has flown by. My pregnancy seemed to take forever, but now that he is here, time is flying. There isn't much new going on right now. I will post again soon.

It's finally fall

This weekend we acted like it is fall, even though it was still in the 80's. We went to the Farmer's market on Saturday and picked out a pumpkin.
Aaron not to sure of the hay

But he is happy in his stroller

Then Sunday went for a hike at Pilot Mountain then drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had a great weekend as a family and were glad Caleb got a break from work. Here are some pictures.

Aaron "eating" peas

Aaron has had peas many times before, but for some reason, he did not like them tonight. He has been a great eater and has eaten everything that I have given him. Below are some pictures of the faces he was making as I tried to give him some peas. He barely opened his mouth, then would take a small bit. He barely would swallow them. As he did, he straightened his legs and shook his whole body. As a result, we had some great faces with more peas coming out of his mouth than going in. By the way, Tyler you can't have him...but come visit anytime.

I guess his thumb taste a lot better than the peas.

100% boy

I had no idea how early kids fell into "gender roles". For a long time Aaron has liked being outside and it was an easy way to calm him down if he was upset. Now I would say he loves it. He especially loves it when the wind blows. We go outside a lot of afternoons and watch cars go by, and he has the biggest smile on his face. The other day the recycling truck was going down out road and we stayed outside and watched it for 10 minutes or so. Aaron was so excited to watch the truck. He was laughing and kicking so much. Who would have thought that a 6 month old would already love trucks.

Even though he is 100% boy, he is still a sweet baby. He cuddles up more now (when he is sleepy) and gives great slobbery kisses on your cheek.

Pictures

Here are some recent pictures of Aaron.

6 months old

Well, Aaron is officially 6 months old...well he was a few days ago. On 10/3/07, Aaron turned 6 months. I cannot believe that he has been a part of our family for 1/2 a year. But it also seems like he has always been with us. Caleb and I were talking today about how much joy he has brought into our lives. Everyday he gets more and more interactive.

I thought I would take a few minutes to tell you guys all about what he is doing. At his 6 month check up he weighed 17 lbs and 14 oz. That puts him in the 50th %tile. He is really tall though...he is in the 90th %tile. Aaron is now sitting up all by himself. Everyday he sits up for longer and longer. He can roll around and loves to explore. He has been rolling for a few weeks and now you have to keep a close eye on him when he is playing on the floor, you never know where he will end up. I guess it is about time for me to baby proof our house. Aaron also loves to talk, its actually babble, vowel sounds only, and squealing. He mainly talks to himself when he is playing alone, or in his crib. Caleb is definitely one of Aaron's favorite people. Whenever Aaron hears his voice, or sees him, he gets very excited and smiles so big. Caleb can not resist picking him up when he looks at him with that big smile. No one can...we all melt at his smile. Aaron loves to eat all the new foods that he gets. He is eating a variety of veggies and I have just started to introduce him to fruit.

Pictures to come soon.

Consignment Sales

The past couple of months I have been going to a bunch of kids consignment sales at local churches. You can get some great items for dirt cheap. I have been looking for a few big items that I don't want to pay full price for. I got an exersaucer and a jumperoo which are great to keep Aaron entertained for a little while. He loves them both and is started to get the hang of jumping in the jumperoo. I also got him a bunch of winter clothes. Most peices I got for a dollar or two. You can't beat those prices. Mom has also taken part of these sales and is getting more things for Aaron. I highly suggest consignment sales for all those with babies on the way or kids.

Pictures to come.

Daddy and Me

Last night while I was getting dinner ready Caleb and Aaron were hanging out. I noticed they were really quiet and when I looked over they were both enjoying some evening reading. Why waste time with baby books when they can read Forbes and The Economist. I'm glad that Caleb now has someone else to talk about Politics and Economics. We better be careful or Aaron's first word will be "econ talk". (Econ Talk is a pod cast that Caleb loves listening too. If you have hung out with us any in the past few months, you probably have heard something about Econ Talk).

Carolina Fan

On Saturday, Aaron went to his first Carolina football game. Of course I forgot to take any pictures, but he was cheering on his team wearing some of his UNC gear. He did great during the game and made all sorts of friends and flirted with every lady around. After the game we went to Raleigh and saw Chris and Cathy who led our bible study when we were up there. They had a little boy, Ben, about 5 weeks after we had Aaron. The little guys got to play together while we caught up, but they weren't to interested in one another. Aaron also got his first ride in an outdoor swing. He just sat back and enjoyed the free ride. We also enjoyed having dinner with our good friends, Derek and Elisa. We got to ride by and see their new home that they are waiting to close on. Welcome to the world of being home owners, and the never ending list of things to buy and fix.

Aaron and Ben: look at the thighs on those guys.

Baby Food

Sorry it has been so long since I added anything. I guess I'm not as good at this blog thing as I was hoping. Anyways, since my last post, we introduced Aaron to rice cereal and other baby foods. He is doing well with it. Of course, he wears as much as he eats sometimes, but that makes it more fun. Now that we are giving him food, he begs for anything that we are eating or drinking. Watch out, he will try to steal your food too.

Aaron's room

Not much has been going on here in High Point so I thought I would take this time to show everyone a few pictures of Aaron's room. We finally got the curtains hung, thanks to mom and dad. Of course the room in Carolina blue and there is Carolina stuff scattered throughout.

Aaron's crib that he sleeps good in at night, but not so good for naps. I'll take a good nights sleep over good naps any day.

My favorite thing...the glider. I had to really convince Caleb we "needed" it.
I am so thankful we got it.

This bookshelf was made by Caleb just for Aaron.
He did a great job and it fits just perfect.

Rolling Over

Today Aaron learned to roll over. He has rolled from his back to his tummy a couple of times before while in his crib. These were accidents though. This morning Caleb and I were talking about how he was getting really close. Well, not 2 hours later Aaron figured it out. He rolled from his back to his tummy, then lifted his head and smiled. He was so proud of himself and loves his new trick. He has done it probably 50 times since then. Of course I had a hard time getting pictures of this milestone, but here are a couple. Hopefully he will learn the other way soon. I am nervous when he is in his crib, he is going to roll over and get stuck.

Aaron thinking about rolling to get his toys, starting with kicking his legs.

Kicking his legs more and more...working sooo hard.

"Did I really do it?" Way to go Aaron!!!

Aaron and I playing on our tummies after he rolled over!!!

We had a great weekend getting to see so many old friends from UNC. We all gathered to celebrate with Josh and Danielle, the new Mr. and Mrs. Shelley. It was a beautiful wedding and so much fun. Mike Blacker stayed with us while his wife, Megan was busy with the bride. Below is a picture of Mike with Aaron. I had to post it as proof that he played with Aaron. Aaron was putting on the charm and trying to convince Mike that he needs a little friend. Hopefully one day we will be joined by Baby Blacker.
Look at that smile...definitely the son of Caleb Vuljanic.

Saturday while we were at the wedding, we got a call from Brian and Jen stating they were going to Jamaica to help in relief from Hurricane Dean. They flew out yesterday to Florida to wait and see where they are needed most. Please keep them in your prayers. We hope that they have a great time and I know their help will be appreciated. We can't wait to see them in 3 weeks and Aaron will have to show them his new trick.

Our growing boy

I know that I have not done the best job at keeping everyone posted with pictures and the Aaron's current skills. So here is a brief overview of the past 4 months. On April 2 I started having some mild contractions so Caleb and I prepared to go to the hospital. We were waiting and waiting for them to get stronger and closer together. That night we went to bed and I didn't have anymore. The next morning I called the doctor after the contractions started again and they told me to come in and they would check me. When we got to the Doctors office, they told me I was 5 cm dialated and to go straight to the hospital. We got checked in around 12:30, they broke my water and gave me pertusin around 2:00 then I had Aaron at 8:05. He was 7 lb and 14 oz and 20.25 inches long.

Caleb and Aaron getting ready to come home from the hospital.

Aaron a few days home. This is one of my all time favorite pictures.

He has grown and changed so much over the past few months. Here are a few pictures of our growing boy.

Aaron with Grandmother (my Grandmother) at his first trip to the farm in mid June.

Aaron's first trip to the zoo when we went to see some of our best friends, Mike and Megan Blacker, in their new home outside DC. Too bad Aaron slept through most of the trip to the zoo...I guess we will have to go back if the Blackers will have us.

Aaron's first trip to the beach. Caleb, Aaron and I met mom and dad and their friends from GA at the beach for a day.

We went to the Dr. for Aaron's 4 month check up last week and he weighed 15 lb and 11 oz. I am going to have to start working out to keep up with him. Aaron smiles so much and this week is laughing, especially when Caleb plays with him or you tickle him. He reaches for things and this morning took his first grab for the scissors sitting on the desk. Everything is finding its way to his mouth. He sucks and chews on his pointer and middle finger all the time. He now is becoming interested in his thumb. He has rolled over a couple of times, but only when he is tiered. He loves to be held up and to sit with our support. Overall Aaron is a great baby but he does have some lungs and screams to let you know when he is not happy or really tiered. Many of you have been able to experience that ear piercing cry.

Its time for me to run, Aaron is waking up.

Stay at home mom

After a few of our friends have started blogs, I finally am jumping on the bandwagon. I thought this would be a good, and hopefully easy, way for everyone to keep up with whats going on at our home...don't worry, it will mainly be about Aaron. Caleb and I have come to understand that is most important to everyone. I hope that I will update this often and I will definitely have a lot of pictures of our handsome baby.

What better day to start a blog than on my official last day of employment. I got a wonderful welcome to the life of the unemployed from Dad this afternoon. For those who don't know the details, while I was pregnant with Aaron I arranged with my work to return part time. I was the first in my position to have this opportunity and was very thankful for it. I was loving my job and thought that part time would be a great mix. I went back to work in June when Aaron was 10 weeks old. Caleb's mom, aka Grammy, watched Aaron since she is out of school for summer break. We were hoping to find someone to watch Aaron when she went back to work (this week). As the time got closer for her to return to work, we had not found someone to watch Aaron (we are very picky) so we decided for me to be a stay at home mom. I have been so excited about this opportunity. I missed Aaron so much when I was working and it was a lot harder on our family than I thought it would be. So, 30 days ago, I turned in my notice...and today I had my last day.

I am so excited about getting to be with Aaron all day and be the one to watch him learn to do all the new things. I will fill everyone in later with all his new skills. He is growing so quick and I don't want to miss a thing. Hopefully with this blog, everyone else can stay up to date as well.

Here a couple recent pictures...more to come.

We are so glad Brian and Jen are back from Bolivia...they returned July 31st.

Aaron sitting like an old man...
fyi...Brian is holding him up in the back. He is not sitting yet, even though his Aunt Jen is trying to teach him to like they do in Sudan. Sudanese babies sit around 3 months.

P.S This post is actually from Wednesday, 8/15/07.
